Voices In The Forest

On-line version displays a sample of 9 extracts from the original 18 locative stories.

The children's stories, recorded using binaural sound, were linked to GPS co-ordinates. Participants with headphones walked through the forest and down to the Bow River, they passed points that triggered an Mscape software device, playing back the sound of the children’s voices. We are invited to carry a stick, find magic stones, look for animal tracks and play ‘hide and seek’. The experience of the Rocky Mountain forest in combination with the evocative sounds of the children’s imagery, suggest a parallel world of shared childhood experience.
